Well, that is it; fear has sunk in. Now don't get me wrong my friends in the internet world. I am still excited. I just have had a stunning realization in the last week or so. It is more along the lines of Oh God, I have so much to do and think about. Now, I know what you are probably thinking: "Katie you don't leave till July, you have plenty of time." And, that is completely true. But, it was enough to get my butt in gear. I've gone through my room and closet to try to start to weed out the things I know I don't want to keep. Ive taken the guest room and have given it the nickname, "A Sala Brasil" which is Portugese for the Brazil room. Don't hate on my creativity, or should we say lack there of. One side are things for a garage sale, the other is devoted for items I am taking with me. Take a look and guess which side is which.

Another thing I seem to be struggling with are my grandparents. I am lucky to be 31 years old and still have 3 of my grandparents to be living. However, Im having a hard time with the idea that I could leave and something could happen to them. I think what is hard is not that they could pass on. Instead it is the idea that I wouldn't be able to say good-bye, wouldn't be able to go to the funeral, wouldn't/couldn't be there to hug my family, especially my parents, to let them know how sorry I am. Because I will be 7,000 miles away. Don't get me wrong. My grandparents are excited about my adventure. My grandpa, aka Colonel, is actually planning a trip and he is "d*@& jealous" that I'm getting to do this. But, the idea that the last time I could see them is when I leave is soooo heartbreaking to me. It is just something Im having to prepare myself for...mentally and emotionally.
Now, that Ive dropped the heavy, let's look at my worries that are probably things I shouldn't worry about. My top worry is Sophie, Soph Soph, Sopherina which ever you like to call her. I know some people have kids and they are their world. I haven't been down that path yet, so in my world, she IS my child. I know that realistically, she is not a child, human, person, but to me she is just as important. When I come home from a bad day, she is always there for me. Sophie was a gift from my Mom and sister, HONESTLY, I cannot imagine not having her or taking her with me. EAB(the school where Ill work) is more than happy for me to bring her. What Im worried about is getting her there. Since I will leave in July, Delta has a strict policy that you can not check a pet as baggage in the summer. So, I can only take her on the plane or ship her as cargo. Im scared that if I bring her on she won't fit under the seat and if I ship her that they will lose her. And, don't even get me started on the fees, forms, and trips to the consulate just for her. I mean I
OBVIOUSLY REALLY LOVE THIS KID!

The last thing Im worried about is my work visa. I don't know why this is something I am so worried about. I mean they go through this every year but for me, I am concerned that Brazil's Labor of Ministry will turn me down, and that I will be unable to go. God, I'm a worry wart!
Well, thanks for letting me vent. Sometimes this blog is just helpful for getting out my feelings! Obrigada amigos!
